Despite all the warnings and all the reported crimes made by tourists who have been to Mexico, the number of tourists visiting Mexico city is increasing. Last year, for instance, has recorded nine percent of visitors while 35 percent was recorded for the year of 2016.

If you take these numbers and compare them with the level of crime in Mexico, the crime level would seem very small. This doesn’t mean that the risk has disappeared. The State Department warns that American travelers have been subject to violent crimes even in the safest places in Mexico.

• Dress modestly, watch your food and drink, and be always careful and cautious at night.

• Before you arrange your travel give it some time to look for safest regions in Mexico. You can always ask friends who have been there before you or very simple bring your laptop and start the search.

• Expired alcohol can be served in 5-star hotels in Mexico. So, you’d better stay away from all this and drink nothing at all. Unless it’s something you bought by yourself.
