#5 – Trim Your Wallet

There is absolutely no need to carry your gym or library card when you’re thousands of miles away from home! So before traveling, consider taking some time to empty your wallet. Remove everything except the essential items, including your identification card, backup and universal credit cards, and insurance cars…

This will help you travel lighter make your wallet look less attractive. And if your wallet is lost or stolen, you’ll at least have fewer cards to replace and not so much money to worry about.

#6 – Use a Dummy Wallet

Almost every destination has at least one place that is known for mugging or pickpocketing, so when in doubt or you know you’re visiting one of them you should get a dummy wallet (a cheap wallet that looks real enough.) Fill your dummy wallet with a few small bills and fake or expired credit cards to make it look real.

This wallet can help you stop pickpocketers from getting their hands on your real wallet. And in the nightmarish (and unlikely) case of a mugging, it would also provide a seemingly valuable item to throw and run, giving you some time to escape with your safety as well as your real wallet.
