#3 – Jamaica

The editorial director, Julia Pond, and the US State Department warned that the violent crimes in Jamaica are very serious issues, particularly in Kingston and Montego Bay.

They add that the tourists can be fairly safe when they are only between the walls of the resort they are staying in. But this doesn’t mean that you are one hundred percent safe.

And as has been declared by the US State Department, most of the sexual assaults reported to the US Embassy by American visitors to Jamaica took place in all-inclusive resorts and were also carried out by the resort’s staff themselves.

If you really care about your safety, then follow these safety steps:

• The most crucial thing you must understand about the Jamaican culture is homosexuality. This country is not accepting and not appreciating the fact that you might be attracted to people of your same sex. They are extremely serious in this matter. So, if you are traveling with your girlfriend don’t expose it and let it be discrete.

• Like in Morocco, wear cross-body bags but still, you don’t have to worry much about how covered or uncovered you are.
